Grief Support Group:   Epworth offers a support group for adults grieving a loved one's death and who may benefit from a 13-week program called GriefShare.  Weekly meetings include relevant videos featuring respected counselors, teachers and healthcare professions on grief-related topics.  A small-group discussion allows for a time of sharing, support, and personal application of what has been learned from the video.

Hymn Sing:  Epworth Music Ministry visits Indigo Hall on the second Thursday each month at 2:00 PM to sing hymns with residents.

Narcotics Anonymous:  Epworth UMC hosts regular meetings of Narcotics Anonymous (NA) in Pearcy Hall, our fellowship hall in the back of the church property.  NA meets throughout the year on Wednesdays at 8:00 pm and Saturdays at 7:00 pm.  For more information, contact the church office for specific contact information.

Local Schools and School Groups:  While Epworth is a small church, we are generous with our time and support for local groups, especially high school groups.  We sponsor the JICHS wrestling team by donating healthy snacks athletic drinks and funding to support their caloric, hydration and protein needs during matches. The team has assisted Epworth with projects and periodically attend services and eat meals as a group with us.  We also support James Island Elementary School children by providing school supplies and backpacks to children who need them.

The Holy City Missions and other Community Needs: Epworth recognizes the urgency of specific types of assistance, such as providing warm coats/clothing and food for families in shelters and, in particular, warming shelters.  Each day/evening that the shelters are open during cold weather, our teams are busy making lunches and dinners for those residing in the shelters.

Salkehatchie Summer Service: Since 1978, youth, young adult, and adult volunteers have given their time and talents to repair houses for over 6,000 families. Each summer, the SC conference sends teams to work for one week at one of many sites, putting their faith in action.

Epworth Children's Home Epworth Children’s Home has provided care and support for over a century to children and families of South Carolina. The home has expanded its service to children and to their families, through partnerships with SC foster care programs. A new campus for young adults supports those transitioning from foster care to independent living - a key program for developing skills to be a well-rounded and successful adult. We support Epworth Children's Home and its Lowcountry Foster Care program with funding, supplies, and gifts.

Serving Through the National and Worldwide United Methodist Church

United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR): UMCOR is the humanitarian relief and development arm of The United Methodist Church.  UMCOR facilitates direct ministry by United Methodist congregants and churches to people suffering from natural or human-caused disasters such as famine, hurricane, war, flood, fire and other events.

Disaster Response Teams: The UMC trains and supports Early Response Teams (ERTs) that respond to disasters locally and in other areas of the US.  Epworth congregants have responded to multiple disasters including post-hurricane flooding throughout the eastern US.  The volunteers have gone into areas with property damage following disasters and removed fallen trees, covered damaged roofs with tarps, moved personal belonging from damaged houses, removed water-soaked walls and floors and performed other relief for people in disaster areas.  UMC's South Carolina ERTs have three cargo trailers used at disaster sites by volunteers.  These are self-contained trailers (cots, toileting areas) and are stocked with food and water by churches near the disaster sites.
